Enthiran review

Rajini....Rajini....Rajini...For the last one week this is the mantra South India chants. Yes, it is for Rajini Kanth's latest much hyped movie "Enthiran". I tried to get tickets for the movie in the first week itself and Contacted many theatres in chennai, but how is it possible in the middle of  fierce Rajini fans? Finally, i got a chance to watch it today (Oct 9) in one of the best theatres in India (Sathyam, Chennai).

The movie is directed by Shankar with Rajini playing a double role, A.R.Rahman musical. Well, it is not a typical Rajini movie, but, in a single word, it is a Sci-Fi technical movie. Tamil cinema or infact Indian cinema might not have seen this kind of a movie. The 2 Hr 54 mins movie will definitely thrill you in all the aspects with some breath taking sequences. The graphics in the movie was done by hollywood technicians and that along with Shankar direction gives you a hollywood experience. A.R.Rahman's flop music continues in this film too.

Why you should watch this movie?

  • Excellent performance by Rajini as Chitti robo.
  • Breath taking visuals and sound effects. (Dont forget to see this movie in a good theatre with excellent sound system)
  • Good song locations (Kadhal anukkal & Kilimanjaro)
  • Shankar's technical perfection
What you will not like in this movie?

  • Not so convincing turning point of the movie (Why Chitti robo turns villain?)
  • The usual tamil movie masala like exploding cars (in fact since it is a hitech movie, even helicopters are bombed)
  • Aiswarya is getting too old
  • No comedy unlike other Rajini movies

A must watch movie for all Tamil cinema lovers and Rajini fans.

Review of Shikkar & Elsamma enna aankutty

    Shikkar
After the pathetic "Oru Naal Varum", Shikkar was the much awaited movie from Mohanlal. The film is directed by M.Padmakumar known for classy films. Vaasthavam and Parunthu were some of the movies directed by him.

The film is a good bet and worth watching. It has a suspense through out the film. Some times you can guess the suspense, but the turning point in the movie is good. The film has excellent camera work with beautiful locations. Mohanlal, as usual, has done his role well. Only drawback of the movie is the presence of Suraj Venjaramoodu. He might have been unavoidable in cinemas now, but his character in this movie is doing nothing. Better not to cast people who does not have any link with the story.

    Rating - 4/5

    Elsamma enna aankutty
Yet another Ramzan release movie with a catching title. As the name implies, it is the story of Elsamma who struggles to run her family at the same time raises voice against all the issues in the village. You can not expect any Laljose magic in this movie, but it is simple and realistic. I think this is the first Laljose movie with out Vidyasagar music in the recent times.

Jagathy have done well in the movie as the president of the panchayath. The new face Anne Agustine has performed average but i think for a new face, it is more than enough. But definitely she is far better than Archana Kavi introduced by Lal Jose in Neelathamara. There are lot more actors in the movie Kunchakko boban, Indrajith, Nedumudi Venu, KPAC Lalitha, Vijayaraghavan, etc. This film too have some beautiful locations which has come well in the movie.

    Rating - 3.5/5
