Review of Ordinary

Hi Everybody,
I am back with a bang!!!! I was in the middle of a job and location change and was too much busy with settling with new environments. Started to watch movies again and thought of post my reviews as usual.

After quite long time, i was seeing a movie in my home town Irinjalakuda and that movie was declared as a hit and got much appreciation. It is none other than "Ordinary". It is a simple movie starring Kunchako boban, Biju Menon, Ann Augestine, etc. The music score by Vidyasagar and it has some excellent songs.

The first half of the movie is quite enjoyable and fantastic with excellent location and humorous moments. Biju Menon is the highlight of the movie with his new accent of dialogue delivery. It is a fact that the director couldnt keep up the momentum of first half in the second. As usual, the second half was filled with emotions and suspense. The story line was not thrilling because it was easily guessable what is going to happen but director was successful in keeping the suspense. Again, how the villain turns negative is not convincing and its seen in many other movies.

Final verdict: A good movie with excellent locations, Biju menon's performance and simplicity.

Makeup Man movie review

Makeupman, directed by Shafi after his latest hit 'Marykundoru Kunjadu" is reported to be a hit. Jayaram plays the lead role while Sheela (Telugu actress & Mayabazaar fame) pairs with him. Music composed by Vidyasagar. So when we say Vidyasagar music, we will expect more. Because whatever songs he composed in Malayalam, all were a hit. But this logic doesnt apply in this movie. Unless other Vidyasagar movies, this movie have only 2 songs (in theatres).

The story is very simple, a normal guy with lot of debts had to marry his lover and for survival, the lover is trying her luck as a heroine in a movie. Since the marriage was a secret, Jayaram is forced to do makeup man's role for his lover to always be with her. The lover's role as a heroine clicks and it creates problems in their life. It leads to the edge of the divorce. But how they are united at the end is the climax.

The movie, I would say an average. The first half of the movie is interesting with some typical Jayaram comedy but the second half was more of serious affairs. Back on track, the last 20 mins again turns into comedy with some extra characters coming IN. Sheela is not upto the mark in the movie as far as acting is concerned. Shafi might have tried for some other heroines. And i would have preferred Dileep playing the lead role because Jayaram is looking too old and he is not able to retain his old talent.

Overall opinion is "can wait till it comes to TV or in DVD"

Marykundoru Kunjadu Movie Review

Its quite some time i have been to movies and reviewed critically. Got a chance recently after watching Marykundoru Kunjadu film directed by Shafi. Dileep plays the lead role while Bhavana pairs him in the comedy tracked movie.

Well, overall i can say, this movie is ok. But for sure, i must say Dileep's popularity has come down in the recent times. He acts as an innocent & coward christian man in this movie which resembles many of his old movies like Chanthupottu. The music of the movie was done by Berny Ignatius. Eventhough he is wellknown for copying songs from other languages, he has done a good job in this movie. Shafi unlike his old movies, narrates a suspense story and taken the climax well.

Special appreciation to Biju Menon who has done his role perfect.

Enthiran review

Rajini....Rajini....Rajini...For the last one week this is the mantra South India chants. Yes, it is for Rajini Kanth's latest much hyped movie "Enthiran". I tried to get tickets for the movie in the first week itself and Contacted many theatres in chennai, but how is it possible in the middle of  fierce Rajini fans? Finally, i got a chance to watch it today (Oct 9) in one of the best theatres in India (Sathyam, Chennai).

The movie is directed by Shankar with Rajini playing a double role, A.R.Rahman musical. Well, it is not a typical Rajini movie, but, in a single word, it is a Sci-Fi technical movie. Tamil cinema or infact Indian cinema might not have seen this kind of a movie. The 2 Hr 54 mins movie will definitely thrill you in all the aspects with some breath taking sequences. The graphics in the movie was done by hollywood technicians and that along with Shankar direction gives you a hollywood experience. A.R.Rahman's flop music continues in this film too.

Why you should watch this movie?

  • Excellent performance by Rajini as Chitti robo.
  • Breath taking visuals and sound effects. (Dont forget to see this movie in a good theatre with excellent sound system)
  • Good song locations (Kadhal anukkal & Kilimanjaro)
  • Shankar's technical perfection
What you will not like in this movie?

  • Not so convincing turning point of the movie (Why Chitti robo turns villain?)
  • The usual tamil movie masala like exploding cars (in fact since it is a hitech movie, even helicopters are bombed)
  • Aiswarya is getting too old
  • No comedy unlike other Rajini movies

A must watch movie for all Tamil cinema lovers and Rajini fans.

Review of Shikkar & Elsamma enna aankutty

    Shikkar
After the pathetic "Oru Naal Varum", Shikkar was the much awaited movie from Mohanlal. The film is directed by M.Padmakumar known for classy films. Vaasthavam and Parunthu were some of the movies directed by him.

The film is a good bet and worth watching. It has a suspense through out the film. Some times you can guess the suspense, but the turning point in the movie is good. The film has excellent camera work with beautiful locations. Mohanlal, as usual, has done his role well. Only drawback of the movie is the presence of Suraj Venjaramoodu. He might have been unavoidable in cinemas now, but his character in this movie is doing nothing. Better not to cast people who does not have any link with the story.

    Rating - 4/5

    Elsamma enna aankutty
Yet another Ramzan release movie with a catching title. As the name implies, it is the story of Elsamma who struggles to run her family at the same time raises voice against all the issues in the village. You can not expect any Laljose magic in this movie, but it is simple and realistic. I think this is the first Laljose movie with out Vidyasagar music in the recent times.

Jagathy have done well in the movie as the president of the panchayath. The new face Anne Agustine has performed average but i think for a new face, it is more than enough. But definitely she is far better than Archana Kavi introduced by Lal Jose in Neelathamara. There are lot more actors in the movie Kunchakko boban, Indrajith, Nedumudi Venu, KPAC Lalitha, Vijayaraghavan, etc. This film too have some beautiful locations which has come well in the movie.

    Rating - 3.5/5

    Ban Politics in Campus

Yet another campus politics criminals strikes in CMS college, Kottayam. Very pathetic!!! Have you seen the visuals from news channels. SFI activities are innocents!!! They will not attack or involve in violence. Still the politicians and protectors asserts this. Do we need such kind of people in our state??? It is time to think and act.

It is a pretty old debate that politics need to be banned in Campus. But is there any action taking place? I have strong belief that politics should be banned in Campus. Why the students coming for their dreams spoil their life in politics? Political parties exists in the campus not for the college, not for the students and not for the management. But for their own interest. Whatever or whomever create issues in the campus will be protected by these political parties. So it is clear that only political parties takes advantage from campus politics.

Still the SFI activities are firm on their demand and they are not admitting that they have done the mistake. By the way what our police was doing? They became the moot spectator for this rampage. If they could have fired their guns, some family might have lost some people, but the state might have gained. So which one you will opt? Family or State??? Think people....think.
